What People Are Saying
I have memories as far back as 2nd grade with kyle. I was always jealous of how tall he was and the advantage it gave him in most sports.  I never got closer to him than saying hi in the halls of school but none the less when we saw each other we always said hello.
The last time I had the pleasure of seeing your son was summer of '02, I believe in Carson City Nevada. We were at the same baseball tournament nearly 1,500 miles away from home, the last place I had expected to see someone running over towards me calling out my name.

Lindsay H.

Lindsay reached out the the Kyle Charvat Foundation in the spring of 2010 as she was undergoing treatment for a recurrent brain tumor. While she had medical insurance coverage for the treatments, the daily transportation costs of driving to and from UWMC as well as general expenses for groceries and basic necessities were adding up. We were able to provide Lindsay with gift cards to both Chevron and Whole Foods to assist with covering these expenses.

One of the side effects of the radiation treatment that Lindsay received is sensitivity to natural as well as in-door light. There are specialized lenses that help reduce sensitivity, but the glass frames and lenses are costly. The Foundation sponsored purchase of both the frames and light sensitive lenses for Lindsay which made a big difference in her ability to comfortably adapt to various lighting environments.

Lindsay wrote us a number of gracious thank you notes – here are a few excerpts:

I wanted to say THANK YOU SOOOOOOOoooo much for what you do for those affected by cancer...it has been a HUGE relief to not have to worry about paying for gas or good healthy food :D!!! WOW. you guys deserve and award and lots of money and vacation time.  Seriously.  Your gift cards have been a HUGE blessing!  …In regards to my health, I have been feeling surprisingly well!! I have been impressed with the amount of "business/errands" etc that I have been able to accomplish...it wasn't until about a week and a half ago that I took my FIRST nap! Which I'm sure is uncommon for just having gone through radiation.  Thank GOD!! [sigh...] so there's a little update for ya!  Just wanted to make sure you know how incredibly grateful I am to you and the foundation and all the donors…

Again, thank you thank you thank you for all that you do...you guys are AMAZING, I hope you know that and how much your generosity has meant to me--I do not take it for granted.  Have a great weekend!!

With love and gratitude,
